Trope Talk: Chosen Ones

Do we like this trope? Hate it? …Can we really pin it down at all? For such a well-known literary device, it really doesn't seem to MEAN much most of the time. But sometimes, "chosen one" is more than just "designated hero" and actually opens the story up for some interesting plotlines! So to celebrate this happy new year, let's all talk about what it means to be a Chosen One!
