In today's video, we are going to talk about the speed you should be practicing at if you want to play fast.

It's not about playing fast for the sake of it. The main focus should be on control.

Start practicing without the backing track so you can think closely about all the aspects involved in your playing. Think about the shape you are going to use, think about how clean are you executing your ideas.

The goal is to have these things taken care of so you can concentrate on the actual lick.

Now you can go back to the backing track and pay attention to things like the subdivision you are using. See if you can talk while playing to prove that the mechanic aspect became second nature.

Finally, watch out for any pain in your hands. You don't want to feel overworked so look for that feeling of comfort that indicates that you can go further with the speed.
