First Time in the Philippines. Blown away by Manila! Wow! What to do in the city.

This was filmed back in early March before the pandemic when we first arrived in the Philippines. It was also filmed before being being locked down in El Nido (we decided to put out those videos in real time!).

This is our very first visit to the city of Manila and the Philippines. We stayed in an area called BGC (Bonificio Global City) and decided to start things off at a really unique mall. Venice Grand Canal Mall is designed to look and feel like Venice, Italy and has both canals and gondolas. We walk around and explore and also get a very famous Filipino dessert called Halo-Halo.

After the mall we head to another area of BGC called Bonifacio High Street. High Street is a popular, open pedestrian area with lots of shops and restaurants. Here we just walk around and also practice some basic Tagalog (one of the main languages in the Philippines).

We then head far across the city to an area called Intramuros which is the oldest part of the city and dates back to the Spanish-era. It has cobblestone streets, old churches and Fort Santiago which we also visit.

Lastly we head back across the city to another area to check out a rooftop bar. We aimed to catch sunset but because of the traffic we didn’t get there in time. We start out Antidote but they were playing loud music and don’t allow cameras so we moved across the street to Firefly Roofdeck to take in the amazing views of Manila at night.
