Fire People and Elemental Powers (Adventure Time Theory)

After the episode “Elemental,” I couldn’t help thinking about how fire people generally seem to have the ability of the Fire Elemental incarnation (although Flame Princess is much more powerful).
This got me idea crafting about why that might be, and thus I came up with this theory regarding the post-Mushroom War history of creatures affiliated with the element of fire.

There’s no direct support for this explanation (and Adventure Time is capable of doing pretty much whatever it wants when it comes to creating and elaborating on lore anyway), but I think it’s a fun idea nevertheless, and promotes general brainstorming about Adventure Time lore.

My idea? CRYSTAL GEMS! (No, no, not the ones from space that take physical forms and conquer other planets to build their empire… just the magic-infused ones that exist in the ATverse.)
