The US House of Representatives has greenlit a monumental aid package totaling $95 billion, encompassing support for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and a measure aimed at TikTok.

The lion's share of this package, approximately $61 billion, is allocated to bolstering Ukraine's defense against the ongoing Russian invasion. President Volodymyr Zelensky's persistent appeals for aid underscore the urgency of this support, with warnings that failure to act could spell defeat for Ukraine in the conflict.

Ukraine stands to benefit from nearly $14 billion earmarked for training, equipping, and financing its military forces. Additionally, $10 billion in "forgivable loans" is slated to provide crucial economic and budgetary support, including bolstering energy and infrastructure sectors.

The concept of offering loans instead of outright grants reflects a stance advocated by former President Donald Trump, emphasizing fiscal responsibility in international aid. These forgivable loans offer flexibility, allowing for partial or full forgiveness under specific conditions.

A significant portion of the funds is designated for replenishing US military reserves, ensuring readiness and capability.

Moreover, the bill empowers the US president to seize and liquidate Russian assets to finance Ukraine's reconstruction, a strategy gaining traction among G7 nations as a means to support Ukraine's recovery efforts.
