Port Vancouver Fail on Embarkation: Nieuw Amsterdam Holland America

It took upwards of 3 hours and a mile of queues to get onboard Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam today. This is the first run north to Alaska on Nieuw Amsterdam this season and there were 4 ships at port, but it was a complete gong show. 10,000 or more people were getting off the ships and another 10,000 getting on. Security and baggage check lines were simply unacceptable today. I have cruised out of Vancouver a few times before and it never took more than 30 minutes to get onboard. It was so bad that even the captain came on the horn and announced that we could be leaving late, as there were still more people waiting to board. In any case, I am now on my way up to Alaska.
