Ike Meets K (1959)

Russian TU 114 jet liner touches down at Andrews air base near Washington. Several shots of the Guard of Honour. L/S as President Dwight Eisenhower (Ike) greets the visiting Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev as he comes down the steps of the plane. Secretary of State Christian Herter shakes hands with Kruschev.
A large crowd watches as Kruschev inspects the Guard of Honour. He and his wife hold bouquets of flowers as they meet with officials. Kruschev and Ike walk up to a dais where Eisenhower makes a speech (natural sound), talking of together considering the problems that divide their two countries and welcoming the visitors to the United States.
Eisenhower and Mr and Mrs Kruschev get into an open car and are driven off towards Blair House. Crowds line the route, but do not cheer. The only sound comes from a marching band. Kruschev waves his hat at the crowd.
The car draws up outside Blair House. Press photographers jostle for pictures as the Kruschevs and Ike get out of the car and go inside.
