Rodina-Mat (Родина-мать) Mother Motherland Kiev, Ukraine

Rodina-Mat is a World War II monument standing 102 meters tall (335 ft) in Kiev, Ukraine. It was completed in 1981 and was designed by Soviet sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich who also designed two other well-known war memorials The Motherland Calls in Volgograd, Russia and the Soviet soldier carrying a German infant in Berlin. Beneath the monument is the World War II museum, one of the most impressive I have been to in Europe and well worth taking the time to check out.
