The Real Spartacus

Spartacus was the leader of a slave revolt against the Roman Republic in 73BC. The rebellion is interpreted as an example of oppressed people fighting for their freedom against a slave-owning oligarchy, and has been an inspiration to many political thinkers down the centuries, featuring in literature, television and film.
