Why We're Not Finding Out Our Baby's "Gender"

Since being pregnant, I've been getting a lot of questions from people that go along the lines of "What are you having?"(spoiler: it's a baby!) In this episode of #TheHormoneDiaries, let's get into why my partner and I aren't finding out the "gender" of our baby and chat about some of the things I've been learning about the differences between sex, gender, and genitals!

*note on the "happy/healthy" child comment* - I understand that many disabled people take issue with folks saying they want a "healthy baby", I honestly wasn't sure how else to phrase this as I understand (and mean) the good intentions behind it and didn't have an alternative to hand at the time. This entire video, however, is about a seemingly innocent and well intentioned question that actually perpetuates stigma and harm against a community so feels hypocritical to not interrogate also. As someone who has had a chronic illness since childhood (and was an "unhealthy" baby), I personally don't have a problem with this phrase, but that doesn't mean others don't (disabled/chronically ill folks aren't a monolith!)
