How to make a maile TI leaf lei?
- Prep about 8-10 big TI leaves
- Devein / remove spine
- Freeze
- Cut small pieces (do not freeze)
- Thaw the frozen TI leaves
- TIE two leaves from the tip & start twisting.
-Twist one leaf in only one direction
-Put together two small pieces with shiny side out
- PInch in the middle & add to the lei every 3 twists
- ADD a TI leaf when it’s about 3 inches to the end by twisting another leaf.
- KEEP adding the small pieces & adding additional leaves until your desired length.
-WHEN DONE, tie a KNOT similar to the knot at the beginning of the lei making.
