Cyclone Kirrily set to 'intensify further'

Nationals MP Keith Pitt has expressed sympathy for people in North Queensland as Cyclone Kirrily approaches the coast.

“It is summer, it is the wet season and I’m certainly thinking of all of those individuals in North Queensland and I hope it goes through and goes through fast,” Mr Pitt told Sky News host Steve Price.

“That’s probably the best we can hope for in these types of situations.

“And it does intensify further … cat 1, cat 2, there’ll be some damage and they’ll get by with that but once it starts to push three and four it gets very damaging.

“And no one knows what the outcome will be then.”
