When layering paint...
The first color you lay down
will be the most prominent
when you peel paint off.

Spray a neutral (black or
white) over your layers of
color before texturizing for
some amazing effects!

You can use many items
such as plastic bags,
magazine paper and
newspaper to make textures

Experiment with different
items and try crumpling or
twisting your bag or paper
for different effects.

Add a light mist of white
for the highlighted side of
the planet, For this, I use
Quick Dry Gloss White (home
depot)

For natural looking shading
start with Montana Gold
Transparent. This allows us
to start a gentle fade for our
shadow

Next, using Quick Dry Gloss
Black (available at Home Depot)
add your shadow.

Take your time! You'll
achieve much better results
by being patient and allowing
layers to dry before proceeding

Use a round item such as a
lid, bowl or empty soup can
as a planet stencil. The item
should have a thin edge for
crisp results.

Cover the rest of the canvas
with Rustoleum Gloss Black
(available at Home Depot)
Keep your can 7"-12" away and
aim for light, but full coverage.

Add stars by spraying
Rustoleum Gloss White
(Home Depot) onto your
finger. After flicking the
excess off to the side, flick
stars onto the canvas.

Flick in several directions
for natural looking stars.

To add some light from
behind the planet, spray a
light mist of a complementary
color, around the planet.

Allow this color to dry for
3-5 minutes for best results.

Use Quick Dry Gloss White
to spray a thin and light layer
of white around the planet.
Be sure to leave some of the
previous layer visible.

Spray some Rustoleum
Gloss Black into a spray can
lid. Use a cheap paint brush
to paint in a tree.

Much of this tree will be
covered by leaves, so it
doesn't have to be perfect.

Dip a small piece of sea
sponge (available at art stores)
in some Rustoleum Gloss Black
and begin tapping in some
leaves.

Carefully make any needed
touch ups.

Cover your piece with
Rustoleum Clear Gloss. This
will create a clear coat and
make your painting more
vibrant and durable!

Don't forget to sign your
painting by scraping in your
signature using a pointed
object such as a pallet knife
or clay modeling tool.
