How To Get A Wireless Lavalier Microphone For Under $20 - DIY Lapel Mic

When filming any videos you want to make sure your audio is as good as it can be, but sometimes getting an expensive mic can cost over $500. The other problem with other microphones is that you have to deal with all the wires and hooking it up to your camera. Well, you can actually get a professional sounds lapel mic for under $20.
By utilizing your smartphone (Android or Iphone) and a hands-free unit you can make a wireless lapel (or lavalier) microphone and still get excellent quality audio. All you need to do is download a voice or audio recording app. I personally use RecForge because I have an Android, but if you have an iPhone you can use Voice Record Pro. Any audio recording app should be fine.

The next step is taking your hands free unit and cutting off the speaker that does not contain the mic. Then cut off the second speaker right above the microphone. Now you should have one long seamless mic that you can hook up to your phone.

You now have a very cheap cordless lapel mic. When I say cheap I mean that in the sense of affordable, not cheap in quality. With your affordable wireless lapel microphone, you can record audio on the go in a ton of different situations. This would work great in workout videos, videos where you have to be far away from the camera, or inside your own car! Having a cordless lavalier microphone let's you do all that!

The only thing to remember is that you will need to sync up the audio being recorded on your phone to the video, but that is easy to do and we cover that in this video. So there you have it! That's how you can get a professional quality wireless microphone for all your YouTube videos.
