Washington Today (11-7-23): Aid to Ukraine hung up in Senate over how to secure U.S. border

U.S. border security is shaping up to be a major sticking point in getting aid Ukraine through the Senate. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) says a "credible border solution" must be part of the bill. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) calling a list of Senate Republican border-related proposals a "total non-starter".

Aid to Israel as part of a national security emergency spending package is not expected to be as controversial, but Senate Democrats are still also rejecting the House Republican-passed version that includes an equal amount of money cut from the IRS budget.
