My Takeaway From the 20 Net Carbs vs 20 Total Carbs

Net Carbs:
-Food Flexibility & Forgiveness
-More variety in food when you track this way
-Less Restrictive
-When you don’t have to count sugar alcohols you get to have more keto snacks & treats
-Fiber allows for more veggies
-Less planning involved to stay under carb goals
-Great for beginners learning how to eat this lifestyle

Total Carbs:
-Very restrictive (in a good way)
-No keto snacks or processed foods unless they are planned out for your day
-Veggies higher in carbs are probably not going to fit in macros
-Makes you more aware and more accountable for all the carbs in all foods
-Keeps the list of foods you can have pretty basic - protein, fat and limited veggies only
-Better for those more familiar with the keto lifestyle and those that are fat adapted
-Planning out all meals and menu for the week is a must
-Helps curb cravings and reduces snacking
-Pretty much guaranteed to lose weight and/or push through a stall

What I love about both methods:
-They are great for different goals being that everyone loses weight differently. Test which - method works best for you!
-There’s more than one way to lose weight on keto

What I don’t like about both models:
-Total carbs makes me feel guilty for eating vegetables
-Net carbs allows you can get away with too many snacks & treats

Which method resulted in more weight loss?
-I can’t say one works better than the other because I lost 125 pounds tracking net carbs.
-Eating clean (limiting snacking, dairy, keto treats, etc) in general will result in more results on the scale.

What method do I prefer for my health goals?
Hybrid of 30 total carbs! I felt a bit stressed trying to stay under 20 total carbs and it also made me feel too restricted. When I feel restricted it makes me want things I can’t have. With that said this is a great tool to get back on track if I start down old habits again.
