⚠️ BLUF, TLDR
CONS:
1. The onboard control screen, while useful for offline work, seems like a bit of an afterthought. It is rather awkward to use since it mounts perpendicularly to the machine frame, the coiled HDMI cable pushes the screen askew on its magnetic mount, and the touchscreen can be hard to navigate.
2. I would like to see more emphasis on conveying the basic safety measures of using this machine (MUST WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN LASER IS FIRING. THERE WILL BE SMOKE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS LASER. USE ONLY IN WELL VENTILATED AREA. RESPIRATOR MASK RECOMMENDED IF MACHINE IS NOT IN A VENTILATED ENCLOSURE). Perhaps in the form of a simple safety sheet wrapped around the laser head.
3. Noise. It is quite loud due to the cooling fan on the laser head. And then with the air assist, and my fans for ventilating the garage, the whole operation is rather noisy.
4. Was not able to do color engraving on metal, even when using the test file from the ATEZR website. Granted, this may be because the metal I had available was not the right kind for this task. Further testing is needed.
5. The included safety glasses are the typical super cheap and uncomfortable kind.
6. I wish the USB cable was about 3 feet longer to more easily reach the computer.

PROS:
1. 20 watt laser is very powerful for a diode (as opposed to a CO2) laser. 5-10 watts is much more common among diode laser machines. This allows for better cutting and not just engraving.
2. Large work area (430x430mm)
3. Solid all-metal construction (large and wide box-style frame. Anodized aluminum.)
4. Focusing lever for super easy and quick focusing (this is SO much better than the type you have to manually focus.
5. Metal Laser shroud with glass window
6. Air assist with very flexible air tube
7. Able to work offline using the onboard screen and microSD card
8. Large emergency stop button
