Typhoon Rai, named Odette in the Philippines, has been declared a Category 5 Super Typhoon by the JWTC as it closes in on the Visayas region of the Philippines. Intensification could ramp up on the storm's final approach, with the storm potentially being Category 5 right up to landfall. This means that severe impacts are possible for southern Samar, Leyte, Dinagat, and Surigao, with further impacts to the west extending towards Cebu, Bacolod, and Iloilo. Rai may intensify again to reach a stronger second peak in the South China Sea as a Category 3 storm, before rapidly weakening off the coast of Vietnam.
