116] Painting Wispy Abstract ALCOHOL INK Roses

While painting a wispy alcohol ink abstract, I saw the potential for making flowers ... roses to be exact 🌹. I used Kielty Inks and, as I went along, their layering solution to protect parts of the painting I loved, and didn’t want at risk. I’ve become a huge fan of Kielty products (from Ireland 🇮🇪) due to their very low odor, being non toxic, and rich in pigment!

To seal an alcohol ink piece I use a museum quality spray by Krylon: Kamar Varnish. Unlike most spray varnishes and acrylic sprays, it will not react with the alcohol inks.

If done on something paper thin like photo paper, Duralar, or Yupo, the piece can be framed under glass or acrylic without being sprayed. Avoid placing alcohol ink work where it will be exposed to direct sunlight however. Though Kielty Inks are less vulnerable, some inks can fade in the sun... eventually.
