Why We Should Expect a “Definitely Bonkers” But "Exciting" Weekend
The second race at Bahrain which will take place on the outer loop is being suggested as something that F1 has never experienced with a high possibility of sub-one-minute lap times. Williams’ George Russell has now explained to Autosport how this could lead to some great racing

Why Bahrain’s Outer Loop Will Be Bonkers According To Russell
Russell got straight to the point
“It is definitely going to be bonkers, that's for sure. I think it's exciting because the lap times are going to be so close”
He added how small mistakes during qualifying would have massive consequences
"I reckon everybody will probably be within a second in qualifying, which means if you make one small mistake, you can be losing loads of positions on Saturday”
He further elaborated on how the fewer corners will play a big role
"I think it's going to be giving absolutely everything you've got, making sure you nail the lap, because there more than anywhere if you do make a mistake, you don't have enough corners to make that lap time back”
He signed off by explaining how the racing could be exciting
“It will probably be a bit of a mess on Saturday, because everyone will be looking for a slipstream. There's probably not enough space to fit 20 cars on there. And the racing is going to be pretty wacky. So that'll be exciting”

F1’s managing director Ross Brawn feels that 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton can win 10 championships as “he is part of an exceptional team and has at least 3 or 4 years ahead of him still at the top”
He also added that “teams will be adopting” biofuel “in a couple of years. The most challenging step in this respect will come when” they “introduce a new powertrain”
He further feels that they “must be careful not to overlap the two phases, that of the transition to a more ecological fuel with that of the new engine”
Mark Temple, Lewis Hamilton's former engineer at McLaren has stated that Lewis is “at his best when things are tough”
AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly has pointed out how “there are only four corners” on the outer loop of Bahrain
“So, it will be a game of who can slipstream best. It's like a mini F1 version of the Indianapolis 500”
He added that “during qualifying” they'll “do what's good for the team, so help your team mate with a tow” and that “the race is going to be very spectacular with a lot of overtaking”
Renault executive director Marcin Budkowski has revealed that normally they don't run their new car in the windtunnel on January 1 “but this year” they “might” as future driver Fernando Alonso has asked for it
