Thomas-Xavier Métro has built an impressive career in chemical academia, achieving several degrees and post-doctorates, and eventually joining the CNRS in 2011 as a Chargé de Recherche at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM, Montpellier, France). Throughout many years working in labs, the shocking impact of chemical enterprise on the environment has led him to explore the wonderful ways in which organic chemists can reduce their use of solvents, and help to protect our natural world. His talk hopes to show you how. Thomas-Xavier Métro is a research associate in Chemistry at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique. - He champions the use of mechanochemistry and solvent-free practices reducing the environmental impact of chemical enterprise.
