1. Church of All Worlds: Based partially on a fictional religion of the same name in the novel ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’, the Church of All Worlds refers to itself as a non-pagan religion that embraces Earth Mother Goddess and Father God as well as gods and goddesses from Ancient Greece. Openly accepting some science fiction elements, Church of All Worlds has established The Grey School of Wizardry inspired heavily by the Hogwarts schools in the ‘Harry Potter’ novels.

2. Scientology -According to the Church doctrine’s ‘Operating Thetan Level III’, Xenu was the evil dictator of the Galactic Confederacy which existed 75 million years ago. According to Hubbard, Xenu brought billions of people to earth (called Teegeeack at the time), grouped them up near volcanoes and proceeded to drop hydrogen bombs on them. The souls of the dead people then had to watch a “three-D, super colossal motion picture” which gave them false memories of Jesus, the crucifixion and all major world religions. These souls apparently now negatively affect everyone who has not had them removed by the Church.

3. Nuwaubianism -believes that men were genetically engineered after women who existed for generations first. Also according to Nuwaubianism afterbirth must be buried to keep Satan from cloning your kid, famed inventor Nikola Tesla was an alien who came from Venus and all Homo sapiens were cloned from Homo erectus… on Mars. Perhaps the most controversial claim, however, is that white people were created as a race of killers and are supposed to be slaves to blacks.

4. Cosmic People of Light Powers -Founding a church named Followers of the Cosmic People of Light Powers, Benda and crew claim to telepathically communicate with aliens as well as have personal contact with them. According to the Church, a fleet of spaceships led by their leader Ashtar Sheran has been helping the good on Earth as they hover around it, and are awaiting transporting the followers of the religion to another dimension, presumably a Utopia.

5. The Church of Euthanasia -this group differs from mainstream religions is that they believe that the world is overpopulated… way overpopulated. The Church of Euthanasia encourages members to take direct action including taking one’s own life and avoiding procreating at all costs as well as advocating cannibalism to avoid burying bodies. Led by the Reverend Chris Korda in Boston, the Church has come under fire many times by police and government agencies for their strange behavior and beliefs.
