‘One star’: Albanese ditches ‘best reforms we had seen in 20 years’

Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance Chief Economist John Humphreys has rated the Albanese government’s stage three tax cuts change “one star” after they ditched the “best reforms” Australia had seen in 20 years.

The Prime Minister unveiled the government’s new tax plan – after dumping the much-promised stage three tax cuts – in favour of directed assistance for low and middle-income earners.

“I will give them one star because the cutting of the bottom tax rate is a good idea,” Mr Humphreys told Sky News Australia.

“I worried I was going to give them zero stars – there are worse things they could have done.

“I really wished they’d kept those stage three tax cuts because those were the best reforms we had seen in 20 years.”
