🔨 We love a good DIY around here. We finally got the water leak fixed around our bedroom slide. The Schwintek slide rails seemed to be the culprit. During our research on slide out leaks, we discovered that most campers that use a slide topper awning have fewer leak problems. It makes sense because it keeps the water off of the slide where there are plenty of opportunities for it to work its way in. We decided for peace of mind that we would install one on our bedroom slide. Of course we wanted to do all of the slides but we live on a budget so the bedroom slide was all we could work into that for now.

🔨 Since we live on a budget, we decided to give the Lippert Solera Slide Topper Awning a shot. It seemed to be the best bang for our buck. Just for the bedroom slide we still spent almost $500. 🔨 Another bonus to the slide topper awnings is that they will keep leaves and debris from accumulating on your slides. Then you don't have to get up there and sweep your slides off every time you go to bring them in.

🔨 Our 2014 Grand Design Solitude 369RL already had a drip rail above the slides that have the channel for the awning to slide into. The kit comes with one anyways so don't sweat it if you don't have that. For ease of installation, it is best to have 2 people working on this.

🔨 The process is pretty simple and straight forward and can be completed in 1-2 hours. You will need some basic tools and supplies in addition to the kit.
