Ghent Altarpiece by Van Eyk - explained

It may well be the most stunning altarpiece in the world: the Ghent Altarpiece. Also known as The Mystic Lamb, it is the work of both Hubert and Jan van Eyck. It was made six centuries ago, but it is still as beautiful as ever. There are so many stories to tell about this wonderful work. There is the iconography or symbolism, but there is also the amazing story of the altar itself. it has been stolen many times, taken apart and sold in pieces to name a few of its adventures. Today it is almost complete and you can see it in Ghent. But before you go there, watch this video so you will be able to fully appreciate this absolute masterpiece.
