Ayurveda Talks: My Interview with Dr. Robert Svoboda

Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India, where all his training was in Hindi. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. Dr Svoboda is the author of twelve books including Prakriti: Your Ayurvedic Constitution.

In this interview the charming and brilliant Dr. Svoboda talks about why Ayurveda matters now (and it is not what you'd expect...), how the philosophy of materialism that has infected medicine, and the need for a consensus on what ayurvedic medicine is: (clue: it has to do with prana, gunas, santosha).

He feels people have forgotten what it means to live, and gives practical, easy suggestions for what we can do each morning and evening to weave ourselves back into the web of life in ways that impact the wellbeing of all.

As an example, he suggests every evening we review your day and ask ourselves, how have I done? How have I lived? Have i loved? Have I connected to God, or source or what I value above all else? Have I allowed myself to connect to what’s really real?

I hope you enjoy his wisdom.
