Culture as Competitive Advantage: Joanne Smith at TEDxSanLuisObispo

Joanne Smith talks about how companies can use their corporate culture as a way to attract good employees and new customers. Joanne is Senior Vice President of In-Flight Service for Delta Air Lines (http://www.delta.com/) at its world headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. In this position, which she has held since March 2007, Smith leads more than 20,000 flight attendants, supervisory and administrative personnel. In addition she oversees the airline's onboard product development and catering operations, which includes 165 kitchens across the globe supporting 4000 flights per day.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
