Helping Those Who Aren't As Privileged | Nyaliet Riek Gai | TEDxIntl School Of Uganda

Nyaliet comes from multiple cultures, ranging from the villages of South Sudan to the rivers of Egypt, she has come from a family rich in culture and diversity, and a community of people who work together to raise each other.

She shares her story about coming from a life of privilege in a country that struggles to provide for its people due to conflict and poverty, and how she found her desire to help those less privileged than herself.

She discusses how she finds comfort in helping the many unable to provide for their families or let alone themselves due to factors that may not even be due to their struggle.
Nyaliet Riek Gai, hailing from North and East Africa, resonates deeply with the Swahili saying, "waotaji kusukuma jamii mbele," or "a dreamer pushes society forward." Raised in these regions, she founded the East African Human Rights and Wildlife Youth Project (EAHWYP) to support disabled children, orphans, and animal shelters. Despite her South Sudanese passport, her passion for public speaking and advocacy embodies the African spirit. Grateful for being chosen as a TEDx speaker in grade 11, she emphasizes in her speech that individual dreams can help foster compassion and community involvement.
