How (and Why!) to varnish an Acrylic Painting

Did you realize that an acrylic painting has tiny pores in it like the surface of your skin?

Dust and atmospheric pollutants can get trapped in those pores. And because acrylics are such an excellent glue - they get trapped there forever! (Well, you can perhaps remove them if you are willing to lose the paint around them, too.)

So a final mineral spirit based varnish provides greater protection AND is removable.
