Project Description:
An M-tech level project in the field of image processing is explained here. The project explains the subcategory image segmentation that falls under image processing. This M-tech level project is implemented using image toolbox of MATLAB software. Image segmentation is the process of dividing image into number of parts or segments for obtaining a more meaningful image than the original one. The conventional segmentation techniques extracted features of the image by converting it into black and white image and then dividing that image into segments on the basis of similar features. So, the techniques were cumbersome. In this M-tech level project the image segmentation is done by making contour models of the image. Whole image is considered in which the most important part of the image is marked as the initializing part from where the process of segmentation start. The neighboring areas of the initial part are checked and compared, the parts having similar information will be assigned to one contour and the ones having different information will be assigned to the second contour. In this way the segmentation of the whole image is done. This image segmentation technique is mostly implemented in medical image processing, object detection etc. the technique proves its effectiveness and efficiency in this M-tech level project. The contour model development technique is implemented in this M-tech level project and the efficiency of the technique is proved by verifying results using MATLAB software. The technique implemented in the project is the most trending and the best technique developed for segmentation.
