10 of Godzilla's Greatest Enemies
Godzilla is a Japanese cinema icon and being so means that he has appeared in a lot of movies, both
Japanese and Western. And each and every one of these movies wouldn’t be complete if there weren’t
any massive Kaiju battles.
Godzilla’s enemies come in all shapes and forms. Their strength varies as well, and although they were
ultimately bested by our favorite atomic Kaiju, some of them could potentially take him down at any
given day.
So I scoured countless webpages and internet forums just to find out who is the baddest among the
baddies. In this video, we’re going to rank the top 10 kaiju that Godzilla faced. Now I know that not all of
you will agree with my ranking, but please be kind in the comments. Let’s begin shall we?

Number 10. Anguirus
Contrary to popular belief, not all Godzilla movies featured a monster for him to fight. In, Godzilla was
the only kaiju featured in the first Godzilla movie in 1954. Humans were his adversaries there. His first
kaiju enemy appeared in Godzilla Raids Again released the following year in 1955 and his name was
Anguirus.
Being the first already merits his inclusion on this list, but there are other reasons why. His appearance
set the standard for all other kaiju battles that followed, and when it comes to battles, Anguirus was no
slouch.
He was modeled after the ankylosaurus, and like the armored plant eater, Anguirus was heavily armored
as well. His carapace was covered in spikes, making his hard shell not only for defense but also for
offense. He also possesses a sonic roar that can inflict massive damage, and produce a paralyzing poison
that he can deliver using his spikes and claws.
Since his first appearance as an enemy, he has since appeared in 7 more Godzilla movies, sometimes as
a friend, more often a vicious adversary.

Number 9. Rodan
Like Anguirus, Rodan has an on again off again friendship with Godzilla, although he predominantly
appeared in films as an ally. In fact, the only time the two actually duked it out was in Godzilla Final
Wars, and that’s because Rodan was used as a weapon by the Xiliens via mind control. But in the rest of
his appearances in the Kaiju universe, he was an ally to Godzilla, even sacrificing his own life to save
Godzilla by transferring his life energy to him.
He was modelled after a pteranodon, hence his name. Originally shortened to Radon, the Japanese
found it harder to pronounce so Rodan it is. Regarding abilities, he has tons of them. Flight, or course,
because of his wings, but for offense he has the atomic heat ray, the uranium heat beam, the
radioactive mist. He could also produce shockwaves by just flapping his wings.

His most amazing ability is probably life absorption wherein he can absorb the life force of any nearby
living thing to restore his own injured body.

Number 8. Hedorah
Hedorah, aslo known as the Smog Monster, is one of the few Kaiju on this list that was extremely close
to have defeated Godzilla. In fact, if it weren’t for the help of humans, Godzilla would already have been
dead meat.
According to cannon, Hedorah was an alien that hailed from the Dark Gas Nebula in the constellation
Orion. He hitched a ride on a comet and landed on earth that way. He fed on earth’s pollution hence the
basis for his abilities. He actually faced Godzilla multiple times in various different forms.
Yes, Hedorah had multiple forms. When he first landed on earth, he looked kind of like a tadpole. But by
feeding on pollutants, he first morphed into a quadruped, then a flying saucer of all things, then his final
humanoid pile of sludge form, which was the form he was in when he nearly defeated Godzilla in their
battle near Mt. Fuji.
His attacks are mostly pollution based, the primary one being the ability to acidic chunks of his body
onto his enemies. He is also capable of releasing massive quantities of sludge and dirt from his body
without affecting his overall size.

Number 7. Gigan
Gigan is among the strangest kaijus that Godzilla has ever faced. With a circular saw weapon located in
his frontal abdominal region, large steel hooks for hands with smaller ones for toes, spikes running down
his tail, three, large fin-like spines on his back and a red cybernetic visor for an eye, he’s nothing short of
a cyborg kaiju, a kaiborg if you will.
He is sometimes considered to be the most brutal and violent opponent Godzilla as ever had. Ironically,
he can also be a coward, at least
