Replacing a Defective GeForce 8600M GT GPU on an Early-2008 15" Apple MacBook Pro

In this video, I go over the process of replacing a defective nVidia GeForce 8600M GT video chipset on an Early-2008 15" Apple MacBook Pro pre-Unibody. This failure is VERY common with these machines, and is due to a manufacturing defect with the original variants of the 8600M GT chipset (G84-602-A2). In 2010, nVidia released a revised version of the chip (G84-603-A2), which doesn't have this issue, and is insanely reliable. Apple began putting these new chips in machines brought in for service in 2010 and later. Replacing a defective G84 GPU chip with a revised version will make the machine 100% immune to future GPU failures.
