Tribute to a Global Columbia Class With an Empire State of Mind

Congratulations, Class of 2021! Despite the many personal and universal obstacles of the past year, you have persevered. You have completed your studies and have now transitioned from Columbia students to Columbia alumni. As President Bollinger said in his address, “when you say, ‘I graduated from Columbia in 2021’ ... you, and everyone else, will know what that means. It is profound.”

We celebrate you with your moments of joy and triumph, your cherished memories, friends, and classmates—and, of course, as Columbia University in the City of New York, we salute you with our traditional send-off song: “Empire State of Mind,” by JAY-Z and Alicia Keys.
