Watercolor Painting | Apricot

These days, apricot trees are full of ripe fruit. Today, I’ll be drawing a few of these apricots.

The structure of the fruit is simple, yet the colors are a bit tricky to paint. The apricot is between a yellow and orange color. It’s important to balance these two colors so the appearance of the fruit doesn’t change. For example, too much orange can make it look like a little orange.

I’ll use orange, yellow, and olive green mixed with lots of water to create the color I want. The key here is to layer the fruit multiple times using a diluted color. This will add weight and depth to the apricot.
