Wedding DJ Gig Log | BEHIND THE SCENES OF A CANADIAN DJ | Saskatoon, SK | 2021

Follow along this vlog as I DJ a smaller wedding here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. This is my first wedding gig log so I tried to make it as concise as possible and show everyone the behind the scenes of what a Canadian DJ does (the good and the bad).

My name is Andrew Kinakin with Kinakin Entertainment and I am a full-time professional DJ. This wedding took place over the summer of 2021. Typically a wedding is done in a single day, that would include set-up and takedown as well, however this wedding was different.

Overview of video:

I was able to setup most of the wedding reception (lights, truss, fog machines, speakers etc.) on the Friday before the wedding. The day of the wedding consisted of setting up the ceremony at a different location on a day where the temperature was 34 degrees celsius. The wedding was outdoors at the Forestry Farm, a local zoo.

There was a very short time frame between taking down the ceremony and finishing the setup at the reception where people would be arriving almost immediately after. That made me work extra fast to beat people to Glass and Lumber, our venue for the evening.

What I did not anticipate was getting stuck behind not one, but two, trains on the way back.

When I arrived at the venue I made sure everything was working great (both the lights and the audio).

People began arriving and cocktail hour began.

Dinner proceeded where I would play light background music until the slideshow was ready to be played.

After the slideshow was done, we cleared some room for the dance floor and began the first dance.

To set the mood I had haze throughout the building and then the added effect our spot lights, moving lights and a mirror ball made for a magical experience.

Once the first dance was completed, the father-daughter dance begun and then straight into the party!

It was a smaller wedding of about 45 people but they brought the PARTY! Last song was at 1:45am.

I was able to take down until 3:00am and then had to come back the next day to load everything back into the trailer.

It was a fun first experience vlogging a wedding, I was busy and had to remember to get some good footage to show everyone!
