"The show for everyone in business, especially today's working woman," is the introduction for this San Francisco produced show on business.
The Foster City based company, "Telegen" is profiled in this program; with soundbites from its founder, Jessica Stevens and from Interstar Marketing Research firm rep, Linda Boterro.
Telegen offered an automated means for business callers to access competing phone carriers that discounted "toll-calls" in the mid-1990s. This was back in the era of competing telecommunications carriers, where the billing rates of phone calls were based upon the calling distances. Now in the 21st Century, such protocols for placing long-distance phone calls have all been abolished, in the 21st Century, with competitive flat-rate billing plans.
KGO's consumer reporter, David Louie, does an assessment on customer service, in the San Francisco region, with his "Consumer Confidence" report.
The "Women Breaking Through" segment featured the restaurant industry; reporting from the California Culinary Academy with soundbites from Susan Borowczyk, and Terry Bouska. The report then goes to the "Boulevard" restaurant, with chef/owner Nancy Oakes. And then segues to Barbara Tropp, president of the International Association of Women Chefs & Restaurants.
Golfing and business goes hand-in-hand, with women taking up clubs to cultivate business. Soundbites from Elizabeth Cooper of Computer World, and Cheryl Lucanegro, the director of the San Francisco Executive Women's Golf League.
Sydnie's in-studio guest, business columnist Jane Applegate, offers advice and encouragement to small business owners devastated by recent local floods.
The segment from the "San Francisco Business Times" book-of-lists reports on the largest commercial contractors in the region; with Bechtel Corporation getting the top spot.
Reported by Rosie Allen, Marketplace's "Woman of the Week" award went to Caitlin Curtin, the CEO of Luminare.
