‘Absolutely disgusting’: Captain Cook statue hacked down by protesters

Adoni Media’s Leisa Goddard says it is “absolutely disgusting” that a Captain Cook statue was hacked down by protestors on the eve of Australia Day.

Ms Goddard’s remarks come after the statue was sawed down overnight in St Kilda.

“It’s absolutely disgusting,” she told Sky News host Steve Price.

“It’s appalling and I’m sick to death of living in a country where we have to feel embarrassed to be proud of what this country stands for.

“We know these statues are going to be targeted – is it a case that police now have to patrol them on the eve of Australia Day?”
