Watch Dogs 1 - Hijacking a Helicopter in Singleplayer! [Extra Gameplay Footage Included]

For the longest time, I thought that it was impossible to hijack a police helicopter in Watch Dogs 1 without the help of a buddy in Online Free Roam. However, I discovered tonight that it actually is possible to do offline, if you have cat-like reflexes!

Basically, you need to create a cash run challenge in a spot above where a helicopter will hover. The only places I can think of where this is possible are drawbridges. The helicopter's pathfinding AI ignores hackable objects, which include drawbridges. This means that they can hover under, or even inside of them.

Once you do this, lure a helicopter under the bridge using a boat. Try to get the helicopter in a spot that will be reachable from your cash run point. When you are ready, disrupt the helicopter. It will not be able to follow you, and will hover upwards at a moderate speed. While it is doing this, quickly teleport up to the bridge by using your cash run challenge, and then ready a weapon. You will have a short window to kill the sniper, and enter the cockpit.

Killing the sniper is a necessary step, because the helicopter cannot be entered when he is still there. As soon as he is dead, the helicopter will regain control. It will momentarily hold position, and then fly away. This is your chance to enter it.

Once you do enter it though, you will sadly not have much of a view unless you have modded your game. By default, its camera is located at a static position under the world, and will not track the helicopter in any way. However, you can still see where you are going with the mini map. Keeping this in mind, I decided to include some extra gameplay footage in the video to show everyone what it is like to have a proper view.

The controls for flying the helicopter are:

Keyboard/Mouse:
W: Ascend
A/D: Rotate
Mouse Wheel: Forward/Backward

Gamepad:
Right Trigger: Ascend
Left Thumbstick: Forward/Backward/Rotate

Sadly, descending is not possible to do without a mod either.
