Douglas Murray on cancel culture: Boris should defend British tradition | SpectatorTV

Douglas Murray, Kate Andrews and James Forsyth discuss Ollie Robinson's suspension from the England cricket team.

The 27-year-old was suspended when tweets from when he was a teenager surfaced after his test debut. 'For a lot of people, it just looks like such an extraordinarily retributive thing to do. The timing is so vengeful', Douglas says.

Douglas, James and Kate also discuss the decision by students at Magdalden College at the University of Oxford to remove a picture of the Queen from one of their postgraduate meeting rooms.

Finally, they discuss how culture wars manifest themselves today. James says: 'Contextualisation is a much better approach to this stuff than trying to silence your opponent, pull down statues, no platform people.'

Douglas adds: 'There is a very high level of public awareness and dissatisfaction of the racialisation of the rhetoric. Particularly the use of 'White' as a pejorative term.'
