WA Premier Mark McGowan gives a COVID-19 update on day two of a strict five-day lockdown for Perth, the Peel region and the South West region.

No further local cases of COVID-19 have been detected in WA overnight after the state was plunged into a five-day lockdown, the state's Premier Mark McGowan has revealed.

"To repeat, no new local cases of COVID-19 and no new overseas cases in hotel quarantine," Mr McGowan said.

A total of 3,171 coronavirus tests were conducted in WA yesterday, compared to the daily average of about 500, after a hotel security guard working at the Four Points by Sheraton Perth tested positive to coronavirus.
