Senator Lindsey Graham may be able to be persuaded to back a larger package depending on what’s included.

Graham, who just won a hard-fought election, considers another stimulus package a top priority, telling reporters his “number one goal” is “another stimulus package until we get a vaccine.”

When asked why legislators did not approve a stimulus package before the election, Graham blamed an unwillingness of lawmakers to support President Donald Trump.

Graham said, “I think as soon as the election is over there’s going to be a bipartisan breakthrough on a big package somewhere around 2 trillion.”

The South Carolina senator told reporters he would support a bigger package “as long as it’s smart.”

Up next, the latest surge in cases, coupled with the government’s failure to pass another stimulus, is increasing the stress and anxiety felt by hundreds of thousands of retailers nationwide.

“A recent survey by the National Retail Federation and PJ Solomon found that at the peak of the lockdown, 73% of stores closed at least three-quarters of their brick-and-mortar locations, and more than 90% of retailers asked for some rent relief.”

During the month of October, sales at home improvement and gardening stores increased by 0.9% from September and 19.5% from a year ago.

Clothing and accessories store sales were down 4.2% from a month ago and down 12.6% from a year ago.

Some lawmakers are pushing for targeted commercial rent relief as retailers do all they can to combat that thing out there.

Biden has pledged to improve and revamp the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) as part of a larger relief package to better assist retailers as they cope with declining sales.

And finally, Republican Representative Tom Reed of New York has suggested that the focus on Georgia’s runoff Senate races is drawing lawmakers’ focus from another relief package.

Reed has said he thinks a deal could be reached by year-end but suggested that a focus on the Georgia races set to determine control of the Senate is distracting his colleagues in Congress.

He said, “My concern is that we’re getting pushback from leadership saying that the elections in Georgia are their top priority, not getting a package done.”

He suggested that if Congressional leaders cannot reach a deal they should “get out of the way” and led other leaders to “do the job for you.”

Congress needs to stop playing these childish games and make it a priority to reach an agreement soon.
