Glass Sculpture | Local Legends

"Local Legends" opens a new season by getting up close and personal with renowned Filipino glass sculptor Ramon Orlina. Orlina shows his passion for his art, which he has been doing for four decades now. He shares how he visualizes the concept that would fit best in a certain type and size of glass. Orlina recalls how the declaration of martial law in September 1972 and his background in architecture led him to the art of glass sculpting. The program then presents the intricate process of cutting, grinding, and polishing glass to create Orlina's fascinating sculptures. Artist and art critic Cid Reyes explains how Orlina's sculptures are able to exhibit unique and interesting images from different perspectives, and tells how the legendary glass sculptor earned recognition in the local and global art scene.
