Choreographer Ross Freddie Ray reportedly offered to revise this dance, which was originally designed to be filmed, to make it easier for Sergei to dance live. Perhaps as no surprise, coming from the dancer whose favorite ballet to dance is Giselle with its challenging Act II that he says leaves you “literally feeling like you’re dying”, Sergei declined the offer.

✨🌹 There are different kinds of beauty. There’s the beauty of perfect lines and the illusion of effortlessness movement and flight. And then there’s this…

The beauty of the weary and the battle scarred. Of a body and spirit pushed to its breaking point and refusing to collapse. Of striving to carve from your exhaustion and pain as much beauty and grace as possible. Of life refusing to surrender to despair. Of clawing your way back to your feet to mount the air and fly in defiance of defeat.

And in the end, when you just can’t do it anymore, when your heart and soul feel spent, to give everything left inside you just to stand.
