Sven Jürgenson, Mona Juul, Richard Gowan, Ulrika Möller & Kristi Raik

The Estonian Foreign Policy Institute (EFPI) at the ICDS together with the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs organised a discussion on the functioning and effectiveness of the UN Security Council from the perspective of small European states that are keen defenders of multilateralism.

- What are the experiences of Estonia, Norway and Sweden as non-permanent members?
- How can small states promote their priorities alongside the majo powers that are permanent members of UNSC?
- What are the new dynamics to be expected in the Security Council during the new administration of the US?

Speakers:
- Sven Jürgenson, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Estonia to the United Nations
- Mona Juul, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Norway to the United Nations
- Richard Gowan, UN Director, International Crisis Group
- Ulrika Möller, Assistant Professor, University of Gothenburg

The discussion was moderated by Kristi Raik, Director of the EFPI at the ICDS.

The project is supported by the EEA and Norway Grants that are funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
