Body of 'corruption and cover-ups' points to a rotten head of Victorian Labor

“The fish rots from the head down” and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has overseen a “culture of cover-ups, branch-stacking and corruption” for the past 10 years, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.

While Sky News contributor Nicholas Reece described the Victorian Premier’s response to the branch-stacking scandal as “nothing short of revolutionary,” Ms Panahi said “what would be revolutionary, would be for Dan Andrews to step down”.

“To lose three ministers in less than 24 hours shows this party is in absolute disarray,” she told Sky News host Paul Murray.

In 2018, Ombudsman Deborah Glass revealed the Andrews government misused public money amounting to $388,000 through an arrangement where staff for safe-seat MPs, were sent to work in marginal seats, even though electorate staff are not meant to be used for political work.

This “systematic rorting of taxpayer money” became known as the red shirt scandal, which ultimately “speaks of a culture that is rotten to the core,” Ms Panahi said.
