Harmonising Modern Lives with Ancient Wisdom | Dr. Jayshree Om Borad | TEDxIMS

Having lived in the scenic land of Kathmandu valley and surrounded by intricate architectural structures that fascinated me even as a child, I found myself attracted to ancient temples and Gods in an almost magical way! Drawing being mychildhood passion, these visits propelled me into recreating what I saw onto mydrawing book, the mighty Himalayas, the Sun, the Moon, houses, huts, rivers, and seas. A PhD holder inAncient Indian Architecture and author of 4 best sellers, availableinternationally, I, Dr Jayshree Om stand before you to present the beauty ofthe amalgamation of ancient architecture into our modern lives!  In 2005, I underwent 4 surgeries and the heavy medication took atoll on my health. I developed colitis. In 2010, I lost my factory and the heavy financial losses stressedme out.The stress and imbalance in my health and finances led me to amental breakdown and I was diagnosed with cyclothemia. But even during these traumatic times, I didn’t stop going toancient temples. I would ask the deity,3 major questions: 1.  Despite praying so much why do I have a downwardpattern in my life?2.  Where am I going wrong? Is it karma, mindset, or my living space?3.  Can my living space be as powerful as the ancienttemples? Finally, my curiosity & Mother Divine led me to my mentors. Theentry of each was as though well planned by the universe. Shiv sir taught me the Vedic Vastu.Manoj sir taught me the ways of modern architecture, and Laxmi Akka helped me with my writing. 3 simple tips from the Vedas positively changed my life pattern:·     Yoga,     Scriptures,   Sadhana . In the year 2018, I got a chance to represent my nation at theUnited Nations in CSW62 on the topic of ancient architecture and how I gaveback to my community. With Mother Divine’s grace, in 2018, I met my spiritual master, OmSwami ji who advised me to always stick to the truth!  With time, I was able to discover my own truth and found the purposeof my life. With newly formed habits, my life started to change. The downwardtrend slowly went upward. My childhood passion helped me realise myself. One need not be a monk to realize oneself. Each one is differentand each one of us has our path to follow. Honestly, in Vedic Vastu, we are left with just 10% of scripturesout of 2500. What is left is being transferred from generation to generation inwriting and through guru-shishya parampara.Shiv sir passed on his knowledge to me and now I would like toshare it with the world. I would like to request the people and government ofIndia to help us spread these jewels across architectural colleges and interiordesign institutes. I would like to end with the Sanskrit term, "VasudhaivaKutumbakam. " The Ancient Vedas are meant for the entire world as we all are one big family.
