So much of our contemporary world is geared towards extroversion, even if we don’t realise it. The loudest voice in the room receives the most praise; our workplaces and schools are increasingly open-plan, collaborative and thus high-stimulation environments (certainly not ideal for introverts); and even at home the child who prefers reading in their bedroom rather than playing with their friends is simply written off as withdrawn and shy. In this TEDx talk, I not only break down what it actually means to be an introvert, but also why it can be your biggest strength - even if the world says otherwise. Grace is a student at Francis Holland School, Sloane Square in London. Grace hopes to go on to study History at university and then see where it takes her, although currently her interests lie in diplomacy, politics and journalism. Above all, however, she hopes that by the time she enters the world of work it will be developing into a place that is equally welcoming to both introverts and extroverts!
