How Quantum Computing Opens Up A New Frontier For Software | Michael Brett | TEDxBermuda

Recent advances predictive analytics have opened up new opportunities to help us understand the world and create solutions to hard problems, but the cost of the required computational resources can be extremely high. Moore's Law is slowing, which makes traditional hardware approaches harder and harder to scale. Quantum computing may help by opening up a radically different approach to applying complex algorithms in the fields of optimisation, machine learning, physical simulation and so forth.
Michael Brett is Chief Executive Officer of QxBranch, a technology company solving challenging data analytics problems for finance, insurance, pharmaceuticals, media, and energy customers worldwide. Founded in 2014, QxBranch specializes in developing algorithms for predictive analytics that support businesses with decision making on pricing, risk and user behaviour.

The company has unique expertise in quantum computing, an emerging new technology that will have a transformative impact on computationally-expensive problems like optimization, machine learning, and chemical simulation. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., QxBranch has offices in Adelaide and London. Michael holds an Executive Master of Business in Complex Project Management and Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Avionics, both from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
