Victory Day: Putin warns West that Russia's nuclear weapons are "always" combat-ready
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West that no one would be allowed to threaten the world's biggest nuclear power in a speech delivered during the country's Victory Day parade celebration which honours the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War Two.
As Russian troops advance against Ukraine's Western-backed forces, Putin accused the West of "forgetting" the decisive role played by the Soviet Union in WW2, and of stoking conflicts across the world.
"Russia will do everything to prevent a global clash, but at the same time, we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic forces are always in combat readiness."
