Lee & Eggsy Unwin | Paralyzed

A dear friend of mine adores Lee Unwin and has since infected me with that love. For her Birthday, I wanted to make a Lee tribute... and it turned into this nearly 3-minute lesson in agony. It hit me so hard while making this how difficult Eggsy's life has been and how so much of the pain he's endured is because of Lee's death. Yes, it was the connection for Eggsy to Kingsman which was a good thing, but it also created a ripple effect in Eggsy's life of truly terrible things that, as the saying goes, only made him kind. Ugh. Eggsy just doesn't get enough recognition for being such an incredibly well developed, layered, three-dimensional character and I'll be here, ready at a moment's notice with a list of why he's so amazing.

But back to Lee. These paragraphs from the original script are so beautiful:

'It takes a nudge from Merlin to prompt the third to remove his mask. This is LEE, 22 - rugged face , army haircut and strong London accent.

The Terrorist sits up. He's smiling. Between his teeth he holds: A GRENADE PIN. Without hesitation, Lee dives onto him, with a warning cry. It DETONATES. Lee and the Terrorist are killed instantly.

"Lee was the stronger candidate, sir . As I believe he just made evident."
(...)
This hits (Harry) hard. His emotional dam finally breaks. "And as long as I live, I'll never forget it. Never forgive myself. Can't you see that? That all I've ever wanted is to make it right somehow? Can't you see that everything I've done is about trying to repay him? By giving his son a new life. The life he so dearly wanted for himself.'

I Frankenstein-ed the heck out of this song but hopefully it's still coherent.
